So the annual Golden Globes awards ceremony was on last night with the usual mix of mega celebrity, long winded acceptance speeches and comedy banter, some good and some not so good.

Ricky Gervais was asked back to host the awards and just like last year he made every single celebrity in the place feel very uncomfortable and hoping he would leave them alone. Some of the people who weren’t quite lucky enough included, Cher, Hugh Hefner, Johnny Depp and the whole cast of Sex and the City 2. You can watch the monologue here – I am unable to embed it into the post unfortunately.
During his pretty amazing opening monologue the crowd was a mixture of shock, stifled laughing and those who had a sense of humour and could take a joke. A few of the celebrities being introduced dealth with the ribbing well though with Rober Downey Jr saying apart from the mean spirited and mildly sinister undertones the show had been lovely so far after Gervais introduced him by referring to his drink and drug problems. Downey Jr then went on to try and seduce every woman nominated for the Best Actress award in a musical or comedy (you can view some clips here on Gawker)
Some of the big winners of the night included The Social Network, which one the Best Motion Picture in Drama, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Original Score and Rober De Niro who one the Cecil B. DeMille Awawrd.
