After the sad news of Actor Pete Postlethwaite passing on this week there has been another celebrity death with the writer and singer of the multi million selling song Baker Street, Gerry Rafferty, dying of a long struggle with illness.
As well as the huge hit that was Baker Street, Rafferty was also in Steelers Wheel, who had a hit with Stuck In The Middle With You. Sadly however his personal life wasn’t as great and he had a long battle with alcoholism and last year was in hospital with liver failure.
Rafferty passed on peacefully at his home, with his daughter by his side, it is thought that his funeral will be held in Paisley later on in the month.
More than 30 years after Baker Street was released in 1978 Rafferty still got £80,000 a year in royalties, not bad at all and his work will continue to be enjoyed by many all over the world.
